EVN Netz GmbH Südschiene-Project
The work is part of a larger project of EVN Netz GmbH, which is since 2006 the network operator of EVN AG (Energie Versorgung Niederösterreich). The EVN-Pipeline is part of the route which was chosen as the best alternative to solve capacity problems in the South of Austria. Nacap will construct 66 km 800 DN (32") pipeline of the total 120 km's of the EVN-Project. The activities have already started in May 2009 and will take approximately one year.
With up to 200 people working on the construction, the project will form a significant contribution to safeguard the employment in the region. The excavating works will be executed by the local construction firms GLS and L&G.

The pipeline starts near Fischamend, where Nacap also nine years ago has made a pipeline crossing of the Donau consisting of two pipes. One pipeline has been operational since then, the other pipe was constructed in anticipation of a future project and will be connected now. From there the pipeline passes Vienna on the South side and passes the Vienna International Airport in Schwechat. Further on the project will cross one of the largest ground water reservoirs of Europe and a sensitive pre-steppe area, where the construction area has been narrowed to reduce the impact on the environment. Nacap's construction activities will end near Neunkirchen. |
